John Budkins has been picked to head syndication buying for the CBS Television Stations Group as VP, programming and scheduling, TVNewsCheck reported.

Budkins has been working the other side of the syndie business as VP of sales, Northeast region, for CBS Television Distribution. The announcement of his new assignment, which begins Dec. 13, was made by Peter Dunn, president of the CBS TV Stations Group.

Budkins will take over acquisition and renewal of syndicated programming for the group’s 28 stations, the story says.

“John Budkins has earned a well-deserved reputation as a syndication executive who really understands the local stations business and the importance of negotiating deals that make sense for both stations and program suppliers,” Dunn said in a statement.
