Claire Danes, who moved on to a film career after starring in ABC’s “My So-Called Life” 15 years ago, may have found the right vehicle for her return to television–a psychological thriller from “24” executive producer and showrunner Howard Gordon, Deadline.com reports.

Showtime is in talks with Danes for the female lead in the network’s drama pilot "Homeland," the story says.

The role would mark Danes’ first TV series role since "My So-Called Life," which earned her a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy nomination, the story notes. Danes won an Emmy this year for HBO’s "Temple Grandin."

"Homeland" is based on the Israeli program "Prisoners of War." Danes would play the role of Carrie Anderson, a CIA case officer who tracks down threats to homeland security from the Middle East and who receives a tip that an American POW has been turned and will lead a strike against the U.S., the article says.
