Comedy Block Pushes CBS to Narrow Ratings Win

CBS’s comedy block led by "Two and a Half Men" helped push the Tiffany Network to a slim victory over ABC in the 18-49 demo Monday night, while ABC, behind “Dancing With the Stars,” was an easy winner in total viewers, according to TVbytheNumbers.com.

CBS finished the night with an average rating of 3.4 in the 18-49 demo to ABC’s 3.2. Fox was close behind with a 3.0 rating, while Univision edged out NBC, 1.7 to 1.6. In total viewers it was no contest as ABC ended up with an average of 15.3 million for the night to CBS’s 10.6 million and Fox’s 8.4 million.

At 8 p.m. Fox’s "House" was the top show with a 4.0 in the 18-49 demographic, while ABC’s "Dancing With the Stars" had a 3.7 in the same demo. CBS’s "How I Met Your Mother" and "Rules of Engagement" collected a 3.5 rating and a 2.9 in the 18-49 demo, respectively, while NBC’s "Chuck" had a 1.8 rating and CW’s "90210" logged a 0.9.

"Two and a Half Men," airing at 9 p.m., was the highest-rated show of the night, chalking up a 4.5 in the 18-49 demo. At 9:30 p.m. CBS’s "Mike & Molly" had a 3.8 in the same demo. "Dancing’s" last half-hour, from 9-9:30 p.m., was close to "Men" with a 4.4 rating. Fox’s "Lie to Me" netted a 2.0 for the hour, while NBC’s "The Event" scored a 1.7, both in the 18-49 demographic. CW’s "Gossip Girl" managed a 0.9 in the same demo for the hour.

CBS took the 10 p.m. hour, with "Hawaii Five-0" getting a 2.8 rating to "Castle’s" 2.5 for ABC, both in the 18-49 demo. Trailing was NBC’s "Chase" with a 1.2 in the 18-49 demo.

  1. And NBC thinks they are going to relaunch THE EVENT and get dramtic new high ratings?
