Disney Channel announced today that it has ordered a live-action comedy series with the working title "A.N.T. Farm." The show will begin production in early 2011, according to the announcement from Gary Marsh, president of entertainment and chief creative officer for Disney Channels Worldwide.

The series follows a middle schooler, Chyna Sparks, played by 12-year-old China McClain (“House of Payne”), who attends high school as part of a program for gifted kids, Accelerated Natural Talent.

"A.N.T. Farm" also stars Sierra McCormick ("Ramona and Beezus"), Jake Short ("Dexter"), Stefanie Scott ("Flipped") and Zach Steel. Dan Signer ("The Suite Life on Deck") wrote the pilot, which was directed by Bob Koherr ("Hannah Montana," "Wizards of Waverly Place").
