Emmy Nominated Director, Who Also Directed “The Empire Strikes Back, Dies

The Emmy-nominated film director who is probably best known for directing the second "Star Wars" movie, "The Empire Strikes Back," died Saturday in Los Angeles at the age of 87 following a long illness, reports the AP.

The director, Irvin Kershner, also directed Sean Connery in the James Bond film "Never Say Never Again," Barbra Streisand in "Up the Sandbox," and Faye Dunaway in "The Eyes of Laura Mars."

On television, he was Emmy nominated for the drama "Raid on Entebbe" in 1976.
