Production of the Tim Burton version of the iconic horror soap opera "Dark Shadows," starring Johnny Depp as Barnabus Collins, was scheduled to begin in January 2011, but has been pushed back to April, reports Deadline.com.

"Dark Shadows," which was an ABC soap opera from 1966-71 before morphing into a few feature films and a resurrected NBC prime-time series in 1991, has been a pet project of Depp and Burton for years.

Seth Grahame-Smith has been enlisted to write the script. Grahame-Smith is the author of “Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.”
