Stephen Colbert Estimate of Rally Crowd: 6 Billion. National Park Service Estimate: 200,000. Rally was Part Circus, Part Satire

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert’s "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" on Saturday on the National Mall in Washington D.C. was "Part circus, part satrie and part parade," reports the New York Times.

Colbert sent a tweet,  the story saysl which said "Early estimate of crowd size at rally: 6 billion.” Judy McGrath, the chief executive of Viacom’s MTV Networks division, said that the National Parks Service told her there were more than 200,000 people at the rally, which was held at the National Mall.

Many saw the event as a counter to Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor rally two months ago, and some participants on Saturday staged a protest near a Fox News satellite truck, the article notes.

A highlight of the rally was the signs carried by attendees, which tended to be funny, points out the Los Angeles Times. One sign carried by an eight-year old boy read, "My political views are too mature and sophisticated to be summarized on one poster," while a 71-year old attendee carried a sign reading, "Intolerance will not be tolerated" on the front and "Correctly spelled slogan" on the back.

  1. There were no signs at the Glenn Beck rally, at his request, so it’s odd that this rally allowed signs at all, either.

  2. And that’s because Beck knew the vast majority of the signs at his rally would make him and everyone in attendance look like the racists that they are. Like we didn’t already know.

  4. Not only will these ground mats protect your carpet from mud and outdoors particles, but you won’t have to be anxious about meals stains, drink spills or dirt from instruments. Your vehicle will search a lot better with the ground mats, even though guarding it at the exact same time. The kind of protection that would function greatest for a truck that is becoming employed for large duty operate would be the thick rubber flooring mats. These rubber mats resist stains really nicely, and are not difficult to clean; they can be rinsed with water hose as long as you clear them even though spills are fresh. Right after hosing them down and letting them air dry or drying them with a towel you are all set to place them again within your truck.
