Work for Disney and Like to Text and Drive? If If Doesn’t Kill You, It Could Get You Fired

Texting while driving isn’t just dangerous to your life — it may put your career at risk, at least if you work for the Walt Disney Co., reports Nellie Andreeva at Deadline.com

Disney sent out a company-wide memo on Wednesday telling employees that it is updating its "vehicle safety policy." What does that mean? The new policy prohibits Disney employees who are driving either their private cars or company cars while on company business from sending or reading texts or emails while driving, the story says.

"Failure to comply will lead to disciplinary actions up to and including termination," the memo says. The article notes that Disney is joining the Obama administration in banning texting while driving on job-related business.

  1. Perhaps a thumb-lock device could be installed on steering wheels? Removing one’s thumbs for more than 10 seconds would safely disable the accelerator. Obviously the honor-system is failing miserably.
