CBS Tops Monday Ratings Despite Strong Season Debut for NBC’s ‘Sing-Off’

CBS had a solid ratings night across the board Monday, with "Two and a Half Men" leading all shows while the Tiffany Network had the best overall numbers for the night, TVbytheNumbers.com reported.

NBC got a boost from a strong two-hour season premiere for “The Sing-Off” to finish in the No. 2 spot for the night.

CBS wound up with a 3.3 overall rating in adults 18-49, topping NBC’s 2.4 rating. Univision placed third with a 1.6, ahead of Fox and ABC, both with 1.5 ratings.

CBS’s lead in total viewers was 10.5 million to 7.4 million for NBC, with ABC third (6.0 million) and Fox fourth (5.97 million). Univision tallied 4.1 million viewers.

In the 8 p.m. hour, CBS’s "How I Met Your Mother" and "Rules of Engagement" had a 3.6 rating and a 3.1 in the 18-49 demographic, while NBC’s first hour of "The Sing-Off" averaged a 2.75 in the 18-49 demo. Fox’s first hour of "American Country Awards" had a 1.55 average in the 18-49 demo for the hour, while CW’s "90210" just beat ABC’s "Skating With the Stars" 1.05 to 1.0 in the 18-49 demo.

"Two and a Half Men" had the best rating of the night at 9 p.m. with a 4.1, paired with "Mike & Molly" getting a 3.4, both in the 18-49 demo. The second hour of "The Sing-Off" netted a 2.85 in the 18-49 demo, better than hour two of Fox’s "American Country Awards" with a 1.45 in the same demo. The last half-hour of "Skating" managed a 1.0 in the 18-49 demo, which was behind CW’s "Gossip Girl" with a 1.1 in that demo for the hour.

CBS’s "Hawaii Five-0" was tops at 10 p.m. with an average of 2.7 in the 18-49 demo, while ABC’s "Castle" had a 2.2 and NBC’s "Chase" had a 1.5, both in the 18-49 demo.
