CNN to Post Lowest Full Year Ratings in Total Viewers in More Than a Decade and MSNBC Will Beat It in Total Viewers For the First Time Ever. As Usual, Fox News Is the Ratings Leader–By Far–Among Cable News Channels

CNN did not have a stellar year in the ratings, Deadline.com reports.

According to the article, citing preliminary Nielsen estimates, "2010 will mark CNN’s lowest rated year since at least 1997 in total viewers and the target demographic of adults 25-54 after the beleaguered news network posted steep double-digit year-to-year declines. More bad news for new CNN chief Ken Jautz: In 2010, MSNBC will beat CNN in primetime for the first time ever in total viewers and for the second consecutive year in adults 25-54. (MSNBC will also log its first ever demo victory over CNN in total day.)

The article adds, "Overall, Fox News Channel was once again head and shoulders above the cable news competition, drawing more viewers than its three competitors, CNN, MSNBC and HLN, combined."

  1. And yet, every airport crams this inferior channel down our throats.

  2. Inferior to what, exactly, Doug? Right-wing B.S. on Fox? I’m not big on CNN, either, but ratings =/= superiority/inferiority.

  3. very nice cool tvbizwire

  4. CNN is left-wing B.S. (a.k.a. “useful idiots”) so no one believes you’re no big fan. Politics aside, airports should show people what most people want to watch, which is what the ratings reflect. Deal with it.

  5. And yet the liberal media still doesn’t get it.

  6. Yeah, all of that “liberal media” owned by GE and Viacom, and Time Warner, and Comcast, etc. etc. etc. YAWN! These tired old right wing talking points show me that you simply regurgitate the same old Frank Luntz created Orwellian B.S. FOX has been using in their Straw Man arguments to sell their propaganda to brain-dead idiots like yourself for over a decade now. Get some new material!

  7. CNN is last for a reason. Until they figure out what that reason is, they will continue to languish behind their competitors. Unless they discern why they are last, and change their programing to address those problems, they will stay last. Even their sister station, HLN, beat them.
