There’s an opening at CBS for an interactive guru, and the job’s a biggie.

CBS Interactive President Neal Ashe is leaving the company, and CBS has begun a search for a replacement, reports Michael Learmonth at Advertising Age.

Ashe is the longtime chief executive of CNET who became president of CBS Interactive after engineering CBS’ $1.8 billion purchase of CNET in 2008, the story says.

As head of the unit, he oversaw CNET, CBS.com, TV.com, Chow and Urbanbaby.

Internal candidates to succeed him include CBS Senior VP of Strategic Development Zander Lurie, another longtime CNET executive, and Anthony Soohoo, who heads the entertainment division, the story notes.

It wasn’t immediately clear where Ashe is going after leaving CBS.
