Jason Alexander is working on an hourlong drama and in talks with CBS for the unnamed show, reports Daily Variety. [Note: Variety is behind a fire wall and may charge you to see this content.]

Alexander would play a struggling actor who joins his former wife’s detective agency, using his acting skills to become a master of disguise, the story says.

CBS TV Studios is behind the project, with Simon Barry writing and co-executive producing and Carol Yumkas producing, the story says.

Alexander’, best known for playing George Costanza in the long-running "Seinfeld" series, was last seen on series TV starring role was in the 2005 CBS comedy "Listen Up," although he’s been supplying voices for animated series such as "American Dad" and "Fairly Odd Parents," the article notes.

  1. The headline makes it sounds like something that would be perfect for HBO or Showtime…a despondent actor trying to make it, ala Ricky Gervais’ “Extras”. The real description seems comic, and how could it not be with Alexander. Even if it wanted to be dramatic, it will be hard to change audience perception. It actually sounds more like something which might work on USA which seems to be able to do light action series so well. But to see Jason Alexander somewhere again on a regular basis would be a welcome development!
