Slight Pay Bump for CBS News Writers, as New Three-Year Contract Ratified

Dec 13, 2010  •  Post A Comment

CBS News writers will be getting an annual 2% pay increase for those working in television and radio on local and national levels in New York, Chicago, Washington and Los Angeles, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Company Town blog.

The pay rise comes after members of the Writers Guild of America ratified a new three-year contract on Saturday, the story notes. Guild members voted 83% in support of the contract, which also allows CBS News employees to join the guild’s pension fund for the first time and sets negotiated minimum pay levels for writers-producers.

CBS writers had been without a contract since April, and the new three-year contract takes effect retroactively, the story notes.
