After police arrested a WABC-TV weather reporter who allegedly falsely reported that a man had tried to rape her in Central Park, the station has suspended her pending an investigation, the New York Post reports.

As previously reported, Heidi Jones, 37, was arrested for allegedly making the false claim, which could result in as much as a year in jail or a fine of $1,000.

Jones fills in on "Good Morning America" and anchors the New York station’s weekend evening weather coverage. The story says that Jones allegedly made up the story in a move to garner sympathy while she was dealing with an unknown setback in her personal life.

According to the Associated Press, her attorney, Paul Callan, said Jones would plead not guilty to any charges.
