The last surviving member of the original family featured on the popular TV sitcom "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" has died, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

David Nelson was 74 and had been battling complications of colon cancer.

Nelson starred on his parents’ popular TV show, although the story says it was he and his younger brother Ricky who convinced their parents to go on the program. The stars based some story lines in "Ozzie and Harriet" on their own lives, the article notes. The show was broadcast on ABC from 1952 to 1966, and David Nelson directed many episodes of the series, it adds. He’s survived by his wife, Yvonne, four sons and a daughter, and seven grandchildren, the story says.

Ricky Nelson, who was also a teenage singing hearthrob on the show, was killed in a plane crash on Dec. 31, 1985. Ozzie passed away in 1975, and Harriet died in 1994.
