Report: Merger Between Comcast and NBC Universal Expected to Close Jan. 28: FCC Commissioner Copps Said To Want To Add Conditions To Deal

The merger between Comcast and NBC Universal should go to the Federal Communications Commission this week and close on Jan. 28, reports Sharon Waxman at TheWrap.com.

The story says that a vote is expected first from the FCC, followed by approval from the Justice Department. That would allow NBC Universal to close its final payroll the last Friday of January, the article notes.

While a vote from the FCC is expected early this week, some commissioners want to add conditions to the merger, with Commissioner Michael Copps, a Democrat, wanting greater commitment to diversity in programming and a commitment to net neutrality, the article says.
