Weather Reporter Offers Explanation for Her False Rape Claim

Jan 6, 2011  •  Post A Comment

WABC-TV weather reporter Heidi Jones allegedly said she made up a story about a Hispanic man trying to rape her in New York’s Central Park because she was under stress, reports the New York Post.

According to court documents, Jones said she told the story "for attention. I have so much stress at work, with my personal life and with my family. I know there is no justification for it."

Her attorney, Paul Callan, said that Jones is presumed innocent and that the press coverage has been "unfairly characterizing and vilifying her," the article adds.

Jones, who also filled in on "Good Morning America," has been suspended by the network and faces up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine, according to the piece.
