Frankie Muniz, the former star of the Fox sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle," had a handgun confiscated by Arizona police after an altercation Friday night with his girlfriend, reports NPR.

Muniz’s girlfriend, Elycia Turnbow, claimed that Muniz pulled out a gun and held it against his head when they argued about past relationships. Turnbow told police that she feared Muniz might be suicidal.

Muniz reportedly told the officers the gun was not loaded, but they retreived it nonetheless–and according to some reports it was in fact loaded.

Muniz’s publicist denied that Muniz was in danger from himself and pointed out that Muniz had not been arrested. The publicist also said Turnbow was not assaulted, according to NPR.

A report on the incident by Examiner.com focused on the revelation that Muniz now plays drums in a band, Phoenix-based You Hang Up, which is either a punk band, a pop band, a rock band or some combination. Muniz apparently does not dispute the claim.

The couple made up in time to post Twitter pictures of a romantic Valentine’s Day out, according to the Examiner story.
