Does Katie Couric Really Want to Stay at CBS? New Chairman of CBS News Says He Doesn’t Know

Jeff Fager, the newly appointed chairman of CBS News, tells B&C that he’s not sure if evening news anchor Katie Couric wants to stay at the network

According to the article, Fager said, "It’s a good question. It’s high on the list of things to do to spend some time with Katie to find out what she wants to do and what she sees is best for her and what’s best for CBS News."

The story added that Fager also noted "it’s a little premature" to say whether he’d be interested in keeping her at CBS News if she wants to stay. Asked if he has any changes in mind for the near or far term, Fager responded, "I really don’t have any idea in terms of where we’re going to go next, we’re just going to start digging in and really getting to know where things stand, and working from there."

Fager has been with CBS for 29 years.

  1. 29 YEARS! And he still has to ‘find out what’s going on?’ Come on; we all know Katie is on the way out, and they are just trying to find a way to make the process look “nice.”
