Kiefer Sutherland, who became a major TV star during the run of "24," "has closed a deal to star in the Fox drama pilot ‘Touch,’ from ‘Heroes’ creator Tim Kring," Deadline.com reports.

The pilot is produced by 20th Century Fox TV and Chernin Entertainment, the article says.

As we previously reported, Sutherland had been wooed by the producers.

" ‘Touch’ centers on a father (Sutherland) who discovers that his autistic, mute son can predict events before they happen," the Deadline story says.

Because Sutherland is currently appearing on Broadway in a revival of "That Championship Season," the show will most likely be targeted for mid-season, the article notes.

Separately, CBS’ drama pilot "Hail Mary" has cast Minnie Driver in a lead role, reports TVLine.com.

The star of FX’s "The Riches" will play a suburban mother who becomes a detective and teams up with a hustler to work on solving crimes, the story notes. The project recently lured "The L Word" co-creator Ilene Chaiken to come on as executive producer and showrunner, it adds.
