More Than 9 Million Viewers Watch Puppy Show on Animal Planet

Feb 8, 2011  •  Post A Comment

Hey, we like puppies as much as the next gal and guy, but 9.2 million viewers watching a single show about puppies?!! Yes, it was one episode shown over and over again for 12 hours, but that’s some cume number!

Writes our good friend James Hibberd at EM.com’s Inside TV blog, "The actual premiere airing drew 1.7 million. Those numbers are also up 60 percent from last year."

The reason Animal Planet aired the same episode for 12 straight hours is that it was the channel’s 7th annual "Puppy Bowl" marathon. It ran on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011 and started at 3 p.m.puppybowl.jpg

(Yes, we know this is a picture from Puppy Bowl 4, not Puppy Bowl 7. But this year’s poster didn’t have a cute puppy in it…)

  1. I NEVER miss Puppy Bowl! This year they added Chicken cheerleaders, to go along with the Hamster blimp pilots and Kitty half-time show. It has something for everyone!
