Rebranded as Disney Junior from Playhouse Disney, Preschool Block Posts Ratings Gains

The preschool block rebranded as Disney Junior from its earlier incarnation as Playhouse Disney has posted big ratings gains, reports the Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed blog.

Disney Junior in its debut week saw a 34% jump in viewers between 2 to 5 years old, drawing 474,000 children between those ages, the story notes.

It adds that the Peter Pan-inspired animated show "Jake and the Never Land Pirates" became the network’s top-rated weekday preschool debut ever among total viewers and children between 2 to 5 years old, with in 2.2 million in the former category and 966,000 among the latter demographic.

The block airs from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday to Friday and from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
