Something Fishy Going on at Animal Planet as Network Greenlights Shows Involving Hillbillies, Catfish and Aquariums

Animal Planet has greenlit two summer series, both revolving around the theme of fish.

According to an announcement, "’Hillbilly Handfishin’ premieres in August and introduces the wild sport of noodling, where adventure-thirsty city slickers head to Oklahoma to submerge themselves in murky waters to catch catfish with their bare hands and feet…." Seven episodes are scheduled to run.

The other show Animal Planet has ordered is "Tanked," coming in July. It’s described in the announcment as a six-episode series that "follows the antics of two brothers-in-law as they run the largest aquarium manufacturing company in the nation," located in Las Vegas. Furthermore, the brothers-in-law, "Brett and Wayde, will take on jaw-dropping aquarium builds, from such intricate and interesting locations as inside restaurants, casinos, banks, hotels, churches, offices, mansions, museums and zoos."

We thought we might travel somewhere exotic this summer, but now it  looks like we’ll be parking ourselves in front of the ol’ tube instead…
