Streamlined Oscars Telecast in the Works

Producers of the upcoming Academy Awards telecast have signaled that this year’s ceremony will be leaner than the bloated productions viewers have grown accustomed to, Reuters reports.

The lengthy film montages are reportedly a thing of the past, along with the testimonial tributes to the best actor and best actress nominees that have been a part of the show for the past couple of years.

To speed up the broadcast, executive producers Don Mischer and Bruce Cohen have made a decision to streamline the show. "Within the body of the show, we are not doing any film montage sequences," said Cohen.

On the other hand, there will be a return of performances of the best song nominees.

The show airs this Sunday, Feb. 27, on ABC.
