Charlie Sheen’s twin boys have been taken from Sheen’s house by police, according to a report by TMZ. Later, ABC News says the Los Angeles Police Dept. confirmed that the police took the children from the home on Tuesday night. TMZ first reported it.

According to the TMZ report, "A judge temporarily stripped Charlie Sheen of custody of his twin sons Tuesday, after Brooke Mueller submitted a declaration in which she alleged Charlie said, ‘I will cut your head off, put it in a box and send it to your mom’ … TMZ has learned."

TMZ updated its story this morning with this: "Charlie was just live on ‘Today’ where he said he didn’t say those words, adding ‘it’s colorful … that’s a good one I guess. If you spend enough time around me you can formulate things and make it sound like it could have come from my mouth, but you can do that watching reruns.’ He also looked at the camera and sent out a message directly to Brooke, saying, ‘I’m sorry you felt this had to be done in this way, but this does not display any responsible parenting.’ "

Mueller is the mother of the twins and the soon to be ex-wife of Sheen.

The TMZ article adds, "According to legal docs, Brooke also claims … on February 23 Charlie threw a phone inside his house and then with a penknife in hand, threatened to stick it in Brooke’s eye."

In a now famous incident, Mueller complained to police on Christmas Day in 2009 in Aspen, Colorado, that Sheen had also threatened her with a knife. According to the New York Daily News, Sheen "copped to beating a girlfriend in 1997."

In Sheen’s recent interview with Piers Morgan on CNN, Morgan asked, "Have you ever hit a woman?" Sheen replied that "Women are not to be hit. They are to be hugged and caressed."

He then added that there had been an incident once wherein some people thought he had hit a woman, but that she was trying to attack him with a cocktail fork and all he was trying to do was to restrain her.

The ABC News story gave this account of Sheen’s appearance on "Today" this morning: " ‘At this moment on live television, I do not know where my children are but I’m not panicking,’ Sheen said. ‘I’ve professed in … the last few days to not deal and come from a place of panic, ego, emotion, any of that. I stayed very calm and focused.’

In the part of the "Today" show appearance wherein Sheen addressed Mueller directly, ABC News said that Sheen also said, "I think the cooler, smarter, leveler heads can prevail and I urge you to reach out to me immediately, if not sooner, and tell me where our sons are."

Here’s the account of the story as aired on ABC’s "Good Morning America":

  1. Bless the judge who rescued these twin boys from a bipolar, serial abuser.

  2. This guy’s a train wreck. Just hurry up and O.D. and get it over with!

  3. He’s starved for attention and the spotlight.. even at the expense of his own children. What a shame. Just go away already, Sheen is a spoiled rich drug addict and should not be around any children.
