HBO’s project about the 2008 presidential campaign, "Game Change," has tapped a four-time Oscar nominee to play John McCain, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker blog.

Ed Harris will join Julianne Moore, who was cast earlier to play Sarah Palin, McCain’s vice-presidential running mate. The producers haven’t yet disclosed who will play the other three principals of the story; Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden.

In addition to Oscar nominations for “Pollock,” “The Truman Show,” “The Hours” and “Apollo 13,” Harris has an Emmy nomination for “Empire Falls.” He has been nominated for a Golden Globe five times, winning the award in 1999 for “The Truman Show.”
