Charlie Sheen expanded his media campaign this week by opening a new Twitter account, and he immediately began racking up followers at an impressive pace, Examiner.com reported.
The story said Sheen’s account, which was set up Tuesday, was accumulating followers at a rate of about 2,000 per minute. Other reports had his total near the 1 million mark by Wednesday afternoon, just 24 hours after launching.
Sheen’s first Tweet, posted Tuesday afternoon, featured a photo of the actor and one of his “goddesses,” or girlfriends, holding bottles of chocolate milk and Naked juice, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Charlie was focused and really excited about communicating directly with his fans," said Arnie Gulov-Singh, CEO of Ad.ly, a celebrity endorsement firm that helped Sheen set up shop on Twitter. "He had seen other celebrities join Twitter and he realized it was the best way for him to tell his side of the story directly to his audience.”
