After making a joke on his talk show show about how Kirstie Alley resembled one of the little piggies during her appearance on "Dancing with the Stars," George Lopez offered an apology on Twitter, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker blog.

"I misjudged the joke," Lopez, the host of TBS’s "Lopez Tonight," wrote on Twitter on Thursday. "No malice was intended and I apologize to Kirstie."

According to the story, Lopez said on Tuesday night’s show that Alley "did a nice job, her little hooves tapping away. Before the show she went to the market, and then she had roast beef, and this is her going all the way home." The show then aired a clip of a squealing pig from a Geico ad, the article notes.

Several women’s groups objected to the joke, saying it conveyed a negative message when Alley has been open about dealing with her weight issues, the story says.

For her part, Alley–who appeared in the show "Fat Actress"–seemed to take the joke in stride. Before Lopez apologized, Alley responded to his joke with her own tweet, writing: "Don’t worry about George’s comments … just remember what happens to the big bad, drunk woolf … falls in a boiling pot of vodka. Piggy laughs."

  1. George Lopez was seriously overweight for YEARS so he has short term memory apparently.
