Mike Starr, a former Alice in Chains band member who also appeared in television’s "Celebrity Rehab," has died at 44, reports Reuters.

Starr was found dead in a Salt Lake City house after police received a call about a possible body in a residence, the story says. A police spokesman says there was nothing to indicate foul play, and the article adds that the results of toxicology tests could take up to two months.

Starr, who was fired from Alice in Chains in 1992, went public last year with his drug problems on "Celebrity Rehab." The show’s host, Dr. Drew Pinsky, said on Twitter, "Devastating to hear of Mike Starr succumbing to his illness. So very sad. Our prayers are with his family."

The story notes that the lead singer for Alice in Chains, Layne Staley, died of an overdose in 2002.
