Starz announced Thursday that it will implement a 90-day delay next month on making available its original series to users of its Starz Play service, which is arranged through Netflix, Verizon and Qwest, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Starz noted that it will add exclusive first-run movies to the delay plan at a later time.
The move follows a similar decision by Showtime, which announced this week that starting this summer it will withhold original series from Netflix.
The moves highlight that the premium cable networks are increasingly concerned about competition from the fast-growing Netflix service.
