‘X Factor’ Appears to Finally Have Its First Judge Lined Up

There’s finally some real news to report in the long wait for Simon Cowell’s upcoming singing competition “The X Factor” to pick its judging panel. A record exec and music producer is close to signing a deal with the show to take the first judge’s seat, Entertainment Weekly reports in its Inside TV column.

The exec is L.A. Reid, whose talent list includes Mariah Carey, Pink and Usher, the story reports.

A source close to the negotiations told the publication: “L.A. wants to do it. He has his sights set on a seat on that panel and apparently Simon would like it to happen.”

The choice of Reid would signal a different strategy from the one “American Idol,” Cowell’s old show, has taken recently, which has been to focus on finding judges who are singing stars in their own right, such as Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

  1. Yes this is right.
More tijme is being centered around finding Judges when it should be about promoting the people they have on the show.
