A&E Television Networks is changing its name and getting a new slogan, reports Jon Lafayette at B&C. The name change involves taking the "television" out: The cable programmer will now be called A+E Networks. It will carry the new tagline "Life is entertaining," the story says.

The new name and slogan are meant to communicate the company’s broad range of networks, platforms and capabilities. Taking out "Television" from the company name is meant to emphasize that its brands, such as A&E, History and Lifetime, extend beyond the TV, the story says.

The name will be introduced at the company’s May 4 upfront.
