As Opposition Mounts, Trump Pulls Out of Coveted Appearance

“Celebrity Apprentice” host Donald Trump, who still says he may run for president, has a PR problem. In the wake of his fierce “birther” campaign–and being made to look silly in many people’s eyes after President Obama took time out from what turned out to be the effort to kill Osama bin Laden to appease Trump by releasing his long-form birth certificate–Trump has been the target of a rising tide of derision in the media and in public forums.

The latest casualty appears to be Trump’s plan to drive the pace car for the Indy 500. Trump pulled out of the plan, citing “business obligations,” according to TheWeek.com. But the piece notes that the move comes amid a groundswell against letting Trump drive the car–including a “Bump Trump” page on Facebook with more than 18,000 “likes.”

Among the critics, a group of local Baptist ministers, who “felt Trump was unfit to grip a steering wheel, citing his ‘petulant, poisonous and racist remarks’ regarding President Obama’s birth certificate and school records,” the story says.

  1. i hope Trump runs because it will great comedy watching him play the fool. Of course nothing would be greater than him and Sarah debating foreign policy. It will destroy the Republican party but possibly launch their careers as stand-up comics and a new reality TV series.
