The lineup for next season’s installment of the CBS crime drama "Criminal Minds,” which has been in flux, is taking shape, Deadline.com reports.

The show will continue to star Paget Brewster next season, although new series regular Rachel Nichols won’t be returning, according to the story.

Co-star Thomas Gibson is still negotiating a deal for next season, the article adds.

Brewster starred in a pilot during the recent development season, but it didn’t make it to series. The pilot, NBC’s "My Life as an Experiment," was in first position to "Criminal Minds" but ABC Studios had the option to bring Brewster back to "Criminal Minds" if the pilot didn’t make the cut.

With Brewster returning along with A.J. Cook, the show didn’t have room for Nichols’ character, the piece says.
