A multiple Emmy-winning actor has been cast to play the grandfather on USA Network’s "Royal Pains," reports TVLine.com.

Ed Asner will play Ted Roth, the grandfather to Hank and Evan and the father of Eddie, who is played by Henry Winkler, the story says. The casting comes after Asner’s CMT comedy "Working Class" was canceled.

Asner has been a fixture at the Emmys since the early 1970s, winning seven Emmy Awards and receiving a total of 17 nominations. He won three Emmys for “Mary Tyler Moore” and two for “Lou Grant,” along with individual Emmys for “Roots” and “Rich Man, Poor Man.”

The third season of "Royal Pains" begins June 29.
