The singer for one of the most famous rock bands in the world is talking with executives at "American Idol" about performing during the show’s finale, reports the New York Post’s Page Six.

U2 singer Bono wants to perform songs from the problem-plagued Broadway show "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" on the show, according to the story.

Bono wants to perform with fellow band member The Edge and is also negotiating for "Spider-Man" stars to join them onstage, the story says.

The goal would be to give the stage production a boost by drawing millions of viewers’ attention to the show. Bono and The Edge, who wrote the score for the show, have been working at revamping the show for a new June 14 opening after the production suffered poor reviews, injuries to cast members and delayed openings.

Representatives for Fox, U2 and the production declined to comment, the article adds.
