Susan Lucci, the most well-known soap opera star, is getting a new role, ABC has announced. For the last 31 years Lucci has been playing Erica Kane on ABC’s "All My Children," which received its cancellation notice recently.

According to the announcement, "Beginning May 12, for the first time in ‘All My Children’s’ history, Lucci will be playing the dual roles of Erica Kane and Jane Campbell, Erica’s doppelganger, who will wreak havoc in Erica’s life in every possible way."

A doppelganger is someone’s double.

With ABC having already announced that "All My Children" will leave the air in September, having Lucci play this new role is one way to entice the show’s fans to stay tuned until the series leaves the airwaves.
