Fox has set its sights on an actress who stars in a hit prime-time show to host this year’s Emmy Awards, Deadline.com reports.

The actress, one of the stars of Fox’s “Glee,” is Jane Lynch, who has emerged as the front-runner for the job, according to the story. Various reports say Lynch is in talks for the gig.

Choosing a star from one of the network’s own prime-time hits is consistent with what other nets have done in recent years, including CBS putting “How I Met Your Mother” co-star Neil Patrick Harris in front of the mic.

As a preview of what Lynch might be like as host, the comic actress was on display at the recent Fox upfront, albeit in the guise of her "Glee" character, Sue Sylvester.
