ABC News made a decision to stick with covering the news that Osama bin Laden had been killed on Sunday night following President Barack Obama’s press conference, while CBS and NBC returned to reality TV programming, reports EW.com’s Inside TV blog.

ABC News remained on air with anchor George Stephanopoulos, talking with survivors of 9/11 and providing updates on the news, the story says. ABC also kept a live feed of the crowds that gathered in front of the White House and at Ground Zero and Times Square in New York City.

CBS and NBC, meanwhile, returned to original episodes of "The Amazing Race" and "The Apprentice: Celebrity Edition" after Obama’s address.

  1. Because it was so important that ABC like the cable news networks, sat and repeated the same set of facts over, and over, and over again ad nauseum.
Don’t get me wrong, is was obviously newsworthy and worth breaking in, but after 30 minutes or so of rehashing the exact same details and getting an analyst to reflect on what the past five analysts have said, it’s just really pointless.
