In his first regular series role since “Law & Order,” one of the mainstays of that series is slated to join Aaron Sorkin’s HBO pilot "More as the Story Develops," reports Deadline.com.

Sam Waterston will play the president of the cable news division that employs news anchor Will McCallister, who will be played by Jeff Daniels. Waterston played Executive Assistant District Attorney Jack McCoy on the NBC procedural from 1994-2010.

Actress Emily Mortimer hasn’t yet closed on her deal to play the show’s executive producer, the story adds.

Olivia Munn and Alison Pill have also recently been cast.

  1. Good. I like Waterston. Sounds like a good part for him. I’d hate to see him spend the rest of his life having to shill in TV ads for killer robot insurance. Would really like to see him make a guest appearance on LAW & ORDER: UK.
