Comedian Jerry Lewis, 85, was hospitalized Friday and canceled the Sydney, Australia, leg of his tour after not feeling well, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
After arriving at the Rooty Hill Returned Servicemen’s League club, Lewis was reportedly unable to get out of his car. Lewis’ publicist said the comedian was in the hospital for three hours before going to his hotel room, and said doctors concluded he was overtired.
The publicist added that Lewis’ staff was being cautious because he had contracted viral meningitis while in Australia on an earlier visit, according to reports.
Lewis, who is on a fundraising tour for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Australia, has had a "ridiculous" schedule in recent months, the publicist said. At least two weekend shows were canceled.
