One of the major supporting co-stars of MGM’s 1954 film version of Lerner and Loewe’s "Brigadoon," who become familiar to TV game-show audiences in the 1970s, has died at 81, reports the Associated Press.

Elaine Stewart played the part of Jane Ashton in "Brigadoon."

Long married to legendary game show produced Merrill Heatter, she was featured on at least two of his game shows, "Gambit" and "High Rollers."

Stewart died at her home in Beverly Hills after a long illness, the story notes. She was born Elsy Steinberg, and got her first starring role in 1953’s "Code Two," a crime drama, the piece notes. In the 1960s she appeared in several TV shows such as "Bat Masterson" and "Perry Mason."

She is survived by Heatter–her second husband–and two children, the story notes.

Here’s a clip of Stewart on "Gambit," as introduced by host Wink Martindale:

  1. That’s Loewe, not Lowe, and “long married” doesn’t take a hyphen. All right, carry on.

  2. Hmmm…Sounds like we’re tone-deaf AND grammatically impaired…Thanks for pointing out these errors. We’ve fixed ’em…
