Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, the disgraced New York congressman who resigned Thursday amid a scandal involving inappropriate photos sent via Twitter and Facebook, has been approached to appear as himself on HBO’s "Entourage," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The offer was made to Weiner before he resigned, and it appears unlikely that he will accept it, the story says. "Entourage" executive producer Doug Ellin said he has received no response since sending the offer, the story says.

The HBO show returns July 24 for its final season.
