  1. Clarice, or “Aunt Reesie” was one of the pioneers of the African American stage, she was a member of the American Negro Theater in the 1940’s and a founding member of the Negro Ensemble Company. Her one woman show “Moms”, based on the life of Moms Mabley won an Obie award.
Aunt Reesie was also a wonderful woman who was always fun to be with and did so much to make my life better because out of all of the family she understood me best and was always encouraging and able to bring a smile and a laugh into my life when I needed it.

  2. Lee, thanks for this posting. It’s always nice to get a personal first-hand perspective.
I was very sad to read about her passing. My condolences.
