Exec Behind ’24,’ ‘Dark Angel’ and ‘Firefly’ Takes Key Programming Post With Syfy

Syfy announced today that it has appointed Scott Vila to the newly created position of vice president, current programming, scripted.

Vila, who had a hand in water cooler hits “24,” “Dark Angel” and “Firefly,” will report to Erik Storey, senior vice president, Original Programming, Syfy.

Vila will have responsibility for the network’s highest-rated show, “Warehouse 13,” along with two second-season hits, “Haven” and “Being Human.”

“Throughout his career, Scott has consistently developed quality television,” said Mark Stern, president, Original Content, Syfy, and co-head, Original Content, Universal Cable Productions. “His diverse strengths, from targeting compelling stories to overseeing successful execution, will contribute immeasurably to the growth of Syfy’s scripted programming.”

Before he joined Syfy, Vila was VP of original programming at A&E.

  1. It’s about time. Maybe “si-fi” will get back to the great shows it once had !!!
