NBC Expands Broadcast Schedule for ‘The Voice’

NBC has announced plans to widen exposure on the network for the breakout hit singing competition “The Voice,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

A results show has been added to the schedule for the final two weeks of the season, the story says. The shows will air live on back-to-back Wednesdays, June 22 and June 29, at 8 p.m. The June 29 show will be the season finale.

The latest episode, which aired Tuesday, set a record for the series with 14.4 million viewers. The show is averaging 12.6 million viewers and a 5.5 rating, the story says.

“The Voice” has been picked up for next season, when it will lead in to “Smash” on Mondays. It will also have the post-Super Bowl time slot in 2012.
