A cast member from Bravo’s "Real Housewives” franchise is facing an accusation of discrimination by a former employee who alleges she was fired because she’s black, reports the New York Post.

Cindy Barshop, one of the stars of "Real Housewives of New York City,’ is named in a complaint by Altovise Collier, a former employee at Barshop’s "Completely Bare" spas. The complaint was filed with the state Division of Human Rights, according to the report.

Collier, 25, applied for her job online and was interviewed by phone, so she says her employers didn’t know she was black until she showed up for work. Collier alleges that she was the only black beautician at the store and claims that Barshop underpaid her by half.

She also claims co-workers joked she was hired to "inject some color" into the spa because of its expansion plans. When Collier complained about her treatment, she alleges she was fired shortly afterward, the story says.

Barshop denied the charges and said Collier was fired "because of the quality of her work," the article says.
