A contestant on an NBC reality show is claiming the show caused his wife to leave him, destroying their 14-year marriage, the New York Post reports.

Howie Kohlenberg, 47, who appeared with his wife, Christine, on "The Marriage Ref," says after being featured on the show’s March 4, 2010, premiere, Christine became focused on becoming a reality star, the story says.

The beauty products salesman alleges the staff of the show told them they would become famous and wake up as stars after being featured on the show, leading to Christine deciding to fly to Los Angeles with the dream of becoming a reality star.

Kohlenberg said his now ex-wife played a pool girl in the indie film "Chakra Love" and has appeared in a New York-based reality pilot "Shopaholics," the story says. Christine didn’t return phone calls or emails.

A publicist for Jerry Seinfeld, who created the show, said, "We are going to respectfully decline comment."

  1. Not sure what his complaint is. Looks like his wife is getting work in film and television. Isn’t that what they were told would happen if they appeared on the show.
