We reported earlier today that James Spader is in talks for a key role on NBC’s "The Office," and now comes word that another Emmy winner–"The Sopranos" star James Gandolfini–turned down a role on the show, according to TVLine.

Gandolfini met with "The Office" producers to discuss his taking over the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin, but actor who played Tony Soprano ultimately wasn’t interested, the story says, citing a Variety report.

Gandolfini is busy with another project, an HBO comedy in development called "Taxi 22."

Neither NBC nor representatives for Gandolfini commented for the story.
