3D television sets have hardly caught on the U.S., according to a new study by SNL Kagan, and sales are projected to be sluggish for the remainder of this year, reports B&C.
The projection is that only 2% of U.S. television homes–about 1.8 million–will own a set with 3D capability by the end of 2011.
Growth should return to the 3D space in 2012, however, with about 5% of U.S. homes having 3D sets by the end of that year. That figure will jump to 21% in 2015, the story says.
Internet-connected television sets should see stronger growth, with about 14% of U.S. TV homes owning such a device by the end of this year, the article notes.
